Benazeprilat is an inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE; IC50 = 0.28 nM in plasma from dog) and the active metabolite of the prodrug benazepril (Item No. 23804).{38021} Benazeprilat is produced in the liver following cleavage of the ester group from benazepril. Formulations containing the prodrug benazepril have been used to treat hypertension in human and veterinary medicine.
